Close Up Art

Close Up Art is the initiative of Bo Woody Winter, painter and energized by music, sports and exciting people. The unique combination of his painting style and events are brought together in the projects that are presented here.

Not only the press is covering Bo Woody Winter’s activities, the famous jazz writer Grange Rutan in a message to Bo:

“As the published author of Death of a Bebop Wife, the official biography of Jazz Master of the piano Al Haig, I interviewed over 400 luminaries over a 15 year period.

I have seen many artist’s work but I have never seen the depth and breathing quality of anyone else’s work like yours. Congratulations, I hear what they are playing.”

Bo Woody Winter about his drive:

john coltrane“Music has been a passion for over three decades now. I get dazzled by the timeless improvisations of John Coltrane, the timing of Ahmad Jamal, the personality of Miles, I get inspired by the intensity of the great jazz performers. So I tried to put their music in my paintings. But also the craftmanship of the best DJ’s and producers drive me to translate their magic into lasting images. In the nineties I already decorated dance parties and clubs. That was the reason to start the DJ Icon Series. I want to connect my images to the music and therefor developed the Close Up Art projects. Connecting, and merging different forms of art must lead to new experiences.”
